Instrument Features:

It includes four hollow cylinders with one end sealed. For aggregates sized between 4 and 14 mm, the cylinders have an internal diameter of 200±1 mm and an effective length of 154±1 mm. The cylinders are made of stainless steel (Z 2 CN 18-10), with a thickness not less than 3 mm. They are mounted on two horizontal shafts. Each cylinder can be used for one test. The interior of the cylinders must be free of any protrusions caused by welding or fixation methods. The cylinders are closed with flat lids 8 mm thick. Sealing is ensured by a joint on the lid. The abrasive medium consists of stainless steel spherical balls (Z 30 C 13) with a diameter of 10±0.5 mm. Ball diameter can be quickly checked by passing them between two parallel bars spaced 9.5 mm apart, or by weighing a group of 10 used balls, whose mass must not be less than 34 grams. A motor (approx. 1 kW) ensures the cylinders rotate at a constant speed of 100±5 rpm. The motor automatically stops at the end of the test.
